I read this book in a matter of hours. It was raw, gritty and he didn't sugar coat any of the challenging parts of his life. I actually found myself growing apprehensive when he discussed the emotions he experienced during the periods of sexual abuse, and felt some of his frustration as he recalled his setbacks as a professional ballplayer. On the other hand, I was very pleased by certain aspects of the book, including his account of how him and his wife came together, the fact he made peace with his parents, and that he was happy with the way his life turned out after his professional career ended. I was especially blessed by his 8 lessons learned that are summarized in the epilogue and find that I can apply all of them in some shape or fashion to my own life.I would definitely recommend this book and believe that it can bless someone of any race, creed, political views or religion in some way or form.

This book was an amazing story that was full of inspiration. It is certainly one to recommend to others. The author was able to make readers smile and laugh while wanting to cry at the same time. Thank you for sharing it.
I couldn't put it down. I grew up with Cordell and never would have imagined what I just read was going on in his life. This book truly shows just how much a man with dreams and determination can overcome to achieve those dreams.
Book was received on time and in great condition. This is a must read book by everyone. It certainly sheds a light on foster parents and the entire Social Services system. MS
I started reading one night at 1030pm next thing I know, it's 130am & I didn't want to put the book down, but with work in a few hours, I was forced to take a break; but quickly resumed to completion. And Wow, what an inspiring story!! Your journey is a testament to all who may have encountered such a challenging upbringing. Great story of perseverance, determination & hard work!! Wow, what a great book to release during 'Black History' month! This story was a great depiction of the author's life growing up in a small town in the country. Sadly, a lot of african american children in this country can relate to this story in some form. Hopefully, this will be an inspiration to other children, so they too can overcome their obstacles and live on to achieve their goals and have successful lives. Great story! I would recommend this book to others.
If you are looking for a quick easy read to pass the time while traveling I suggest this book! Nice view of one persons side of the minor league baseball system and his struggles and accomplishments both on and off the diamond
